AMBP Smashin’ Gathering for Bloggers
AMBP (AllMalaysian Bloggers Project) held an event on the 14th June 2008 called Smashin’ Gathering for Bloggers at Outpost Cafe, Cathay Cineleisure Damansara. This post is pretty delayed and therep are a lot (I mean, it is a gathering for bloggers after all) of bloggers who have blogged about this already. Anyways, I went to check it out and it was a cool event and I had a great time.
Note: Sorry for the lack of photos. I did not have a camera.

The event started off with a Kimberly Low (http://www.kimberlycun.com), who talked about her first time blogging. She started anonymously, but soon came out. With that, she met many people. Through blogs, one’s personality will shine more. Now, she blogs mostly about products and service reviews and rants about everyday things. A blog has given her a new voice and more influence on people. However, it should not be used for harm.
Next, we had a talk by another blogger by the name of Peter Tan (http://www.petertan.com/blog). Being on a wheelchair, he blogs about disability amongst Malaysian society (or not part of). He stats that people with disability is the largest minority. He highlights that there is a discriminancy against them and there are not much facilities in Malaysia. With a blog, he can use a new way to communicate to people.
Our last blogger who went up on stage was Aizuddin Danian (http://www.aizuddindanian.com). He works for a project called Project Petaling Street and he talked about it. Basically, it is the “#1 Malaysian blog-ping aggregator!” with now 9000 blog users. With this, you can spread info and keep tracks on other blogs. Its key feature is the search function which searches through blogs to dig up for results.
After that, we had a talk by Chin Vin Sen who is from Cinema Online and talks about movies. He says it is the most marketed thing and it tries to obtain every platform for advertising. From posters to FaceBook, movie is spread through everything there is.
The last speaker for the day was Rohan Thomas from Microsoft who shows us this cool thing called PopFly (http://popfly.com). They are now pushing developement, to make something which enables people to create stuff without code. It is an open platform which uses SilverLight plugin. It is great if you want to add cool stuff to your blog.
Lunch came after the talks and in between everything, there were some trivia questions with prizes to give away and a lucky draw. I met some great people there of course, but sadly, I did not bring my camera. Before the day ended, we had watched The Incredible Hulk which I have reviewed.
Well, it was fun. If you want to, you can join All Malaysian Bloggers Project at http://allmalaysia.info/ambp/.
That is all, Eugene out.
