Updates and More Updates

iconAugust 6th, 2008 by Eugene Low

Hello fellow readers,

This place has not been updated for a reasonable amount of time. Why so? This is because I have other work to do regarding the ball and I took a vacation during the weekend. Enough of excuses, on with the updates.

Updates

1. Food Bazaar pictures are up! Click on the picture to go to the gallery.

2. The organisation of the Annual Ball is doing well. Our theme is “Bella Noche” which means “A Beautiful NIght”.

That’s about it.

Might be a bit late, but for January and May intake, good luck for your examinations

From your webmaster.

FooD BaZaaR 2008!

iconJuly 20th, 2008 by victoriayeong

Hello people!!!!!!!!

3 days have passed by real quick and just like that, our Food Bazaar has just ended! So how did you guys find the food?? Feel free to drop us any comments for further improvements in the future! I really hope that our Food Bazaar stall did bring a change to our ‘Underground Corridor’… especially with the aroma from our freshly-popped popcorn & herbal eggs that wafted down the lane… XD I hope that we’ve managed to introduce to you new choices of food rather than the usual everyday Pusat Bandar D’sara cuisine! [like our quiche??] LOL! Anyway, if you have ANY comments regarding our food, please do send in your feedback by simply commenting on this post [regardless of whether you find it 'too expensive... cannot afford!' / 'dirt cheap lah dei', or even if you want to comment on a particular food etc etc]…!

Also, we’ll be posting up loads of pictures and news regarding our Food Bazaar very soon! So do stay tuned yea!

Cheers!!

Review: The Dark Knight

iconJuly 17th, 2008 by Eugene Low

Release Date: 17 July 2008
Classification: U (PG-13)
Language: English
Running Time: 2 hours 32 minutes
Director: Christopher Nolan
Cast: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger.

Rating: 4.5/5

Because as a critic, I feel that giving 5/5 is a bit too much.

First, the storyline. The storyline is a magnificient masterpiece created and molded from the various comic books. It goes on for more than two hours but it has captured the imagination and the curiousity of the audience. It does not drag, but makes the audience hunger for more.

The storyline captures the greyness of humans and this world. It is very deep compared to its first movie. It shows how the characters grow throughout the movie through realisation and corruption. Like how Batman storylines goes, it has a mystery and a plan which is complex yet creates a satisfied feeling when everything is revealed. Also, the script was beautifully written with strong lines and dark humour.

The characters, as mentioned earlier, grow throughout the movie. They all did extremely well in showing the true nature. Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart played their characters well as though they were part of the movie itself.

The only thing I’m sadden (this is totally irrelevent) is the fact that Alfred looks nothing like the one in the comic.

The action and mystery of the movie will brilliant. There were so many cool action scenes and CGI. The camera angles played an important part in bringing us one step closer in being in the movie. The mystery was intriguing. It was thrilling and dark. It was “all part of the plan”.

It is probably one of the MUST WATCH movie of the year.

Movie Review Mayhem. I have been watching a lot of movies. Just keep an open mind, this review is only an opinion and you can follow yours.

Release Date: 3 July 2008
Classification: U (PG)
Language: English
Running Time: 1 hour 32 minutes
Director: Peter Bergman
Cast: Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman.

Rating: 4/5

Imagine a superhero who has no sense of responsibility and drinks. That’s Hancock for you. Hancock character played by Will Smith was brilliant. He is probably one of the most unique characters I’ve ever seen. There is no doubt Hancock can go wrong with Will Smith’s acting skills. Apart from Hancock there is Ray played by Jason Bateman who has the role of PR. He did really well in being the victim of Hancock’s attics.

Hancock was packed with action and drama which kept the movie going. Comedy came in the form of dry humour and goofy Hancock. However, the storyline was a bit messy. There was a very unpredictable twist, which got my upper-hand. Though, that unpredictable twist could have been considered as semi-random.

Overall, Hancock was a pretty enjoyable movie which had a great idea but not executed properly.

Release Date: 10 July 2008
Classification: U (PG)
Language: English
Running Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
Director: Guillermo Del Toro
Cast: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones, Luke Goss.

Rating: 4/5

The last ever person you’d want to see saving the world. Hellboy is another hero but many look at him as a freak. It was a pretty humorous movie, with a lot of action in it. There were a variety of characters with different attributes which contributed a lot to the movie.

What I really like were the mythical creatures and action. The visual effects were simply amazing especially the one scene where the sword sliced through a drop of water. There were some quick and astonishing moves done by the characters.

The only one flaw about this movie was the main villain who had very limited scenes and dialogue. He played only a minor role, sufficient enough to keep the movie going. He could have done much more but he did not.

Release Date: 10 July 2008
Classification: U (PG13)
Language: English
Running Time: 1 hour 36 minutes
Director: Eric Brevig
Cast: Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson, Anita Briem.

Note: If you want to watch it in 3D, it is only exclusively
in GSC Mid Valley

Rating: 3.5/5

There is not much room to expend when you have this kind of movie and with the title. Storyline is pretty plain and straightforward. There is not much of a twist in it. It was slightly fast paced as well. However, I did enjoy the humour and side romance in the movie.

The focus of this movie is the visual effects and especially the 3D animation. Even without the 3D, it has beautiful graphics. The way they capture the imagination is simply amazing.

Its target is for the younger audience but I think it’s open to just about anyone. It is light entertainment but I really enjoyed the lightness of it.
